Nelson Bay beaches closed after massive raw sewerage spill

Beaches at a popular NSW tourist spot have been forced to close after a massive sewage leak in the area.
A sewage main began leaking into Nelson Bay on Monday after it became damaged during excavation works.
About 225,000 litres of raw sewage spilt into the carpark and foreshore, some of which also ended up in the water, ABC reports.
Beaches from Nelson Bay Marina to Fly Point are closed, Port Stephens Council advised on Wednesday.
They are likely to remain closed until Thursday.
